Shepherd's Office, Inc.
Mission: Help the homeless, hungry or lonely.
We give out free food and free clothes everyday depending on the weather and as our supplies last. But no matter what the weather or day, we always give out free home-made hot meals on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays! Over the next 12 months, our goal is to give out over 65,000 Free Home-Made Meals at 408 N. Bedford Street in Georgetown DE.
The Shepherd’s Office in Georgetown, DE is a faith-based program for the homeless, hungry or lonely. Our hope is to provide an alcohol and drug free, supportive faith-based environment for people who are lacking family support, We offer regular and daily FREE MEALS, home cooked meals and free clothing and other provisions. We also help our guests with employment search and housing ideas. We help them navigate the community for other resources. We also use Facebook live Videos to help get the word out about what is needed for the people we are helping.
Who are the homeless in Delaware?
They are the working poor, the newly divorced, the retired on fixed incomes, the employed car dwellers, the couch surfers, the unbanked, the motel moms with their kids, the returning citizens released from prison, the military veterans, the traumatized women of domestic violence, the people with untreated addictions the SPMI people with untreated mental illness. (SPMI = Severe and Persistent Mental Illness). At the Shepherd's Office, we see a lot of different poverty and crisis situations. We all jump right in and try our best to help. We focus on the basic things first and then we dig in to the more complicated situations like finding housing, becoming job ready, doing job search and then job retention and crisis intervention around issues related to mental illness, addiction issues and homelessness! Support is extremely important to our peers, guests and volunteers in recovery with a mental health disorder and/or a severe addiction as they re-engage in the community after receiving treatment or coming into the Georgetown area.
EMPLOYMENT is a primary goal of our daily efforts here when we are assisting our guests in their wellness and recovery. We keep learning how to perform a variety of tasks better and better at the Shepherd's Office. We perform various case management duties such as learning how to do basic intakes to gaining information to assess someone’s needs. We do the best job we can of 'peer support' and encouragement and our middle name is HOSPITALITY. We are always learning about the changing resources that can be utilized out in the surrounding community. And we appreciate your support of our program in Georgetown!!
Please call me or email me if there is anything I can do to assist you in the future. Please let me know if you want to help, volunteer or donate! Please let me know if you have any questions, ideas, or comments.

Sincerely,
Jim Martin, Director and Pastor
